Idropolitana Torino

The project concerns the construction of a sewer system capable of ensuring in the future the reliability of the sewer network of the Metropolitan Area of Turin (AMT). Currently, the AMT (about 1.5 million inhabitants) is served by a wastewater collection system that connects all the municipalities in the area to the treatment plant located north of Turin, in the municipality of Castiglione Torinese. The Turin Area Authority (ATO3), in its Investment Program for the years 2016-2019, planned the construction of a new sewer system, identified as no. 3186 of the Program and named “median collector serving the metropolitan area,” which consists of a deep tunnel and smaller works that will provide an alternative to both the inter-municipal box collector and the terminal collectors. The entire work is located entirely within the territory of the Municipality of Turin along a route of about 14.5 km, with about 9.5 km of tunnel (with a diameter not less than 3.2 m) built using mechanized excavation with a TBM.
