Storstrøm Bridge
The contract for the construction of the Storstrøm Bridge was awarded in February 2018 to the Italian joint venture between Itinera SpA - Grandi Lavori Fincosit SpA - Condotte SpA called SBJV: Storstrøm Bridge Joint Venture. The new Storstrøm bridge will be one of the few bridges in the world to feature a two-track high-speed railway, a dual carriageway, a combined cycle and pedestrian path, all on one cross section. The bridge will be approximately 4km long and will connect the Falster island with the main island of Zealand. It is part of the railway corridor between Denmark and Germany, thus having great importance for the region, and will be the third longest bridge in Denmark. The total cost of the project is approximately 278 million euros. CONTECO Check carries out the consultancy service as a Contractor Major Temporary Works Independent Design Checker, concentrating its project verification activities on the temporary structures necessary for the realization of the works of the bridge itself, and as Road Safety Auditor, providing a road safety check of the infrastructure in accordance with the European Directive 2008/96 for the management of road infrastructure safety.
